Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has made a historic announcement at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. He pledged an investment of ₹10 lakh crore over the next seven years to build a sovereign AI infrastructure for India. Ambani stated that just as Jio democratized internet and mobile data, Reliance will now make Artificial Intelligence (AI) affordable and accessible to every Indian.
He emphasized that India "cannot afford to rent intelligence" and must build its own. The plan includes setting up gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar and leveraging 10 GW of green power to ensure low-cost, high-speed AI services. This move marks the transition from the "Internet Era" to the "Intelligence Era."
